The Tivoli. Even the name fits with the feel of our local theatre.

See, I'm not really into watching movies. I don't even own a television, so whenever I see a film it's almost exclusively a social event. Since I don't watch a lot of movies I actually develop a better appreciation for the ones that I do. I carefully select the ones that actually interest me. Watching a movie becomes an event.

That's why I enjoy going to the theatre. It takes something most of us do quite regularly and turns it into an experience. And the Tivoli, well, alright. Maybe the projection isn't quite top-notch in technological quality. But that is truly part of the charm.

I like the lights on the sign. I like the heavy curtains and the gold molding. I like the tubs of popcorn and the retro cartoons they play before the show begins.

I used to work directly across the street and customers from out of town would sometimes ask about the building. How old it was (does anyone know?), if it was still functional. I was always proud to tell them it operated as a current movie theatre. They were always impressed to hear it.

So I'm not the kind of person who cares about seeing a show as soon as it's released. I just like the Wednesday discount night, a seat around the middle-back, friends and a box of Reeses Pieces. I'll enjoy a film I've carefully selected, and I'll enjoy the Tivoli for the vintage feeling it lends.

To be honest, I have only walked by the theatre. Have never been inside. We usually rent the movies when it comes out on DVD or Blue Ray. We heard it's nice and they just put new seats in... but haven't even made it there yet. We have been her over 5 years. 0

We love the theatre...it reminds me of my (Janices) old town theatre in which I went to...nice that our kids can have that same small town community feeling 0
